How to Care For Engraved Keepsakes (So They Last a Generation)
18 March 20263 min readBy Donna

An engraved keepsake is meant to outlast trends, fashions and house moves. Treat it well and it will.
Wooden engraved gifts
- Wipe with a soft dry cloth — never soak in water
- Keep out of direct sunlight to avoid fading
- Once a year, condition with a tiny amount of beeswax polish
- Avoid placing on hot or wet surfaces
Slate and acrylic keepsakes
A barely-damp cloth is enough. Avoid abrasive sponges, glass cleaners or anything containing alcohol — it will dull the surface over time.
Hand them on
The best engraved keepsakes pass through families. A baby's name plaque becomes a memory in a memory box, then a grandparent's display piece. Look after it now and it travels.
